Jacob's sibling with an unhealthy Leaping Toadstool

During the1986–1987 school year atHogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, whilstJacob's sibling was helping their friendBill Weasley withCareer Advice,ProfessorPomona Sprout tasked Bill with teaching Jacob's sibling how to grow Leaping Toadstools in theHerbology Classroom to see if he was suited to becoming aHerbologist. Unfortunately, Jacob's sibling Leaping Toadstools were of poor health and unable to jump, but Professor Sprout did not discourage him, telling them all good Herbologists made mistakes before making discoveries.[5]

In1993,Ernie Macmillan politely askedHarry Potter to hand him a bucket filled with these toadstools during aHerbology class in theirsecond year at Hogwarts.[2]

Leaping Toadstools were used in the annual competition known as theVegetable Vault, which took place inHogsmeade. The fifth annual competition was held in Hogsmeade by at least the2010s, with the winning toadstools being collected by Hogwarts Herbology professorNeville Longbottom, as they were the most potent.[4]
