Gambol and Japes Wizarding Joke Shop was a shop located inSouth Side,Diagon Alley that sold a wide range of joke items and other products that served as entertainment. It was also the only place in Diagon Alley where one could buy fireworks untilWeasleys' Wizard Wheezes opened in1996.[1]
History[]
During the late1980s, after running out of fireworks for thecelebration of Fawkes event at Hogwarts,Jacob's sibling andArgus Filch went here to purchase more fireworks. They were served byBilton Bilmes, normally the shopkeeper ofZonko's Joke Shop inHogsmeade, who was filling in after the regular shopkeeper was put out of commission by aGiant Dungbomb. Jacob's sibling planned on buying the prototypeFlaming Phoenix firework, but realised it had been stolen by a thief called 'Cribb'. Bilton said he would happily let them have all the fireworks for free as long as they managed to recover the stolen firework and brought a duplicate back. Jacob's sibling agreed and worked to capture the thief, eventually returning the firework.[1]
It was presumably the favourite shop ofFred andGeorge Weasley, andLee Jordan. It was there that they stocked up onDr Filibuster's Fabulous Wet-Start, No-Heat Fireworks in1992.[2] It was run by aman with a white beard and moustache. It was located betweenObscurus Books andTwilfit and Tattings.[3]
