Theeggs of adoxy were black in colour,[1][2] and were used as an ingredient inpotion-making, such as in theGirding Potion.[4][5]
Description[]
Being that the Doxy was afairy-likebeast,Bowtruckles apparently were drawn to their eggs as readily asfairy eggs.[6] They caused illness when eaten byhumans, as they werepoisonous.[3]
History[]
After the first task of theAll-Wizard Tournament, the participating students were given golden coins as a clue for the second task. These coins were in facttransfigured Doxy eggs.[7]
In the1990–1991 school year during an infestation of doxies in thecastle, theDoxy Queen covered theHogwarts kitchens in her eggs.[8]
InAugust1995, whilst cleaning up12 Grimmauld Place,Molly Weasley had her children along withHarry Potter andHermione Granger remove an infestation of Doxies from the curtains in the house withDoxycide, with their black eggs placed in a bowl after the Doxies were stunned and placed into a bucket.[1]
Cormac McLaggen once ate a pound of doxy eggs on a bet, which caused him to miss thetryouts for theGryffindor Quidditch team during hissixth year.[3]
