— Description[src]

Densaugeo[2] was theincantation of ahex[3] which caused the front teeth to elongate at an alarming rate.[1][2]

History[]

"Today, you will be learning the hexDensaugeo. I hope you're not self-conscious, because this hex causes one's teeth to elongate at an alarming rate."
— Patricia Rakepick introducing this hex to fifth-years[src]

During the1988–1989 school year atHogwarts, thishex was taught tofifth yearDefence Against the Dark Arts students by the thenProfessor of the subjectPatricia Rakepick.[3]

During the1989–1990 school year,Beatrice Haywood practised this hex on aMechanical Death Eater inClassroom 3C withIsmelda Murk's help. She nearly hitJacob's sibling andWilfred Levi Kidd with the spell when they entered the room.[5]

On13 November1994,Hermione Granger was hit by thishex fromDraco Malfoy'swand. Draco andHarry Potter had begun fighting in the corridor, which eventually led to aduel, but thespells they cast at each other missed and hit Hermione andGregory Goyle instead.[1] WhenMadam Pomfreyshrank Hermione's teeth, she told the girl to tell her when they were back to their normal size, but Hermione deviously let the spell go on a little longer. This evened them out without the braces thather parents (bothMuggledentists) had intended to give her. She later confessed to Harry that she had previously considered fixing her teeth with magic but resisted out of respect for her parents.[1]

InSeptember2020, an adult Draco Malfoy used this hex again at Harry Potter duringhis duel with him in Harry'shouse, although Harry missed being hit by the spell.[6]
