The termConfoundable was used by theBritish Ministry of Magic to refer to a sort a piece of chaoticmagic that, during theCalamity, stuck displacedwizards and witches, magical objects and artefacts, magicalcreatures or evenmemories somewhere very public in areas inhabited byMuggles, thus threatening to expose thewizarding world and in potential serious breach of theInternational Statute of Wizarding Secrecy.[1]
TheStatute of Secrecy Task Force, created as a response to the Calamity, was tasked to investigate and contain this threat and prevent further breaches of theInternational Statute of Wizarding Secrecy by banishing all Confoundables in order to retrieve allFoundables.[1]
