- 20 March: ActorJamie Waylett, who portrayedVincent Crabbe, is sentenced for two years in jail for taking part of the 2011 London riots.
- 31 March:The Warner Bros. Studio Tours The Making ofHarry Potter is opened Worldwide in Leavesden, Hertfordshire, with members of the cast and crew going to Leavesden for the Grand Opening.
- 9 April: Voice actorTakeshi Aono, who dubbedArgus Filch in the Japanese versions of the first, second and sixth films, dies at the age of 75.
- 14 April: Beta registry ended onPottermore and it was opened to the public for registration.
- 4 July:Eric Sykes, who portrayedFrank Bryce in thefilm adaptation ofHarry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, dies at the age of 89.
- 8 August: ActorChristopher Whittingham, who portrayed aMinistrywizard in thefilm adaptation ofHarry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, dies of cancer at the age of 63.
- 9 October:Harry Potter for Kinect is released.
- 12 November: ActorFred Ridgeway, who voicedAragog in thevideo game adaptation ofHarry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, dies of motor neurone disease at the age of 59.
