This is a nice first step Alex! Thanks.

We'de need to mention this new kernel method/param in this file too:reference/configuration/kernel.rst

And maybe@nicolas-grekas can think of other articles where we could add a brief mention to this method/param with a link to it. Thanks.

Indeed, PR updated! I'm not sure about the default value. I mean, if the wording is good or not?
