Description
Until recently, a range of free GIS Data Layers maps were available for download from the Government of Prince Edward Island website:http://www.gov.pe.ca/gis/index.php3?number=77868. Our colleague Luis Ferla (@luisferla) reports that all downloads are currently failing. Upon testing, I'm encountering the same error.
We do not host copies of these data assets on our local repo. These maps are used as case study material in the following lessons:
- /en/lessons/qgis-layers
- /pt/licoes/qgis-camadas
- /en/lessons/georeferencing-qgis
- /pt/licoes/georreferenciamento-qgis
- /es/lecciones/georreferenciar-qgis
I've written to the PEI Web Digital Office to ask about the status of these downloads. I hope to establish if this is a temporary problem, and/or if we could obtain a copies of the GIS maps for educational use.
Across these two lessons, the files we are now unable to access are the following SHP (shapefiles):
- coastline fromhttp://www.gov.pe.ca/gis/download.php3?name=coastline&file_format=SHP
- lot_town fromhttp://www.gov.pe.ca/gis/license_agreement.php3?name=lot_town&file_format=SHP
- hydronetwork fromhttp://www.gov.pe.ca/gis/download.php3?name=hydronetwork&file_format=SHP
- forest_35 fromhttp://www.gov.pe.ca/gis/download.php3?name=forest_35&file_format=SHP
- nat_parks fromhttp://www.gov.pe.ca/gis/download.php3?name=nat_parks&file_format=SHP
