create_hash_update_trigger(parent REGCLASS)

create_update_triggers(parent REGCLASS)

Creates the trigger on UPDATE for HASH partitions. The UPDATE trigger isn't created by default because of the overhead. It's useful in cases when the partitioning expression's value might change.

create_range_update_trigger(parent REGCLASS)

Same as above, but for a RANGE-partitioned table.

Creates a for-each-row trigger to enable cross-partition UPDATE on a table partitioned by HASH/RANGE. The trigger is not created automatically because of the overhead caused by its function. You don't have to use this feature unless partitioning key might change during an UPDATE.
