It covers our progress from last 2 weeks and also shows our plans for next 2 weeks.

Development Status

• planned released date of 2.0.4 (middle of June) is postponed due to critical issues with ESP32-C3 SPIFFS
• in next 2 weeks, ESP-IDF v4.4.2 progress will be evaluated

Done/In review (Sprint retrospective)

• function setBatteryLevel() in BLEHIDDevice.cpp is invalid - Pull Request in review
• Lib Builder fixes
• Implement LED_BUILTIN constant + digitalWrite() overload for RGB LED - next round of review needed
• ip_napt_enable_no defined in lwip/lwip_napt.h, but not there in precompiled lib - In review (will be fixed in ESP-IDF v4.4.2)
• MDNS special packet from Android App crashes and reboots ESP32/ESP32-S2 - In review (awaiting backport to ESP-IDF v4.4)

Under investigation (longer term)

• Unexpected light sleep and deep sleep behaviour on ESP32-S3 - tested, needs more investigation
• WiFi connection unstable after updating to 2.0.X - needs more investigation
• Peripheral Manager - Specification - feature description done, currently under design shaping. More details can be foundhere

In Progress (longer term)

• Native USB CDC hangs up on ESP32-S2 after about 320 characters - still shaping (internal tracking)
• I2C Frequency - done in ESP-IDF, awaiting backport to ESP-IDF v4.4
• Add default 10MHz SD card frequency for SD SPI - shaping (internal tracking)
• I2C Master Wire.requestFrom timeout not obeyed, takes a whole second to read when slave is not present - internal shaping in ESP-IDF
• WiFi poor performance
• Investigate UART/CDC in all SoC

Selected for Development (Next Sprint)

Critical issues for 2.0.4 release:

• ESP32-C3 Preferences: nvs_get_blob len fail: schedule NOT_FOUND - tested, investigating
• LittleFS Mount Failure on ESP32-C3
• ESP32C3 has SPIFFS mount failure under arduino-esp32 v2.0.3

• Hardware serial sometimes doesn't send every data - investigating
• HardwareSerial not returning any read data if UART_BREAK_ERROR triggered - investigating
• The HiFreq_ADC Example Code cannot run - needs investigation
• ESP32 compile error with arduino-esp32 v2.0.3-rc1 (error: fatal error: bits/error_constants.h: No such file or directory) - needs investigation
• S3 sketch fails to execute when built on Linux/Ubuntu but executes perfectly when built on Windows. Unexpected Maker S3 boards - needs investigation

Community and Documentation progress

Done

• Added USB DFU and CDC tools guide - Reviewed, pending merge

Selected for Development (next Sprint)

• Documentation: tracking issue for filesystem-related libraries API reference
• Create an overview of missing sections of Documentation

Tasks Selected for Development in the Documentation (long term)

• Evalute "Type: For reference" issues and add them to documentation

• New docs theme based on ESP-IDF style - In progress (long term)

• Create a new section to add community-recommended links
