Reedbuck

 

(Redunca), a genus of even-toed ungulate mammals of the family Bovidae. The body of the reedbuck is up to 1.45 m long. The Reedbuck is up to 90 cm high at the shoulders. The males’ horns are up to 40 cm long and are covered with numerous annular bumps. The lower part of the horn curves upward and backward, and the upper half curves upward and forward. The females have no horns. The body is rusty or reddish brown. There are three species distributed in Africa. The common reedbuck(Redunca redunca) is found from the area south of the Sahara to the Zambesi. Reedbucks live in small groups in damp places and along the shores of reservoirs. The large reedbuck(R. arundinum) is found in southern Africa, western Africa as far as Angola, and eastern Africa to approximately 5° N lat. Reedbucks Are hunted for their flesh and hides.
