    tut-work (uncountable)

    1. (mining, archaic) Work done by thepiece, as in non-metalliferousrock, the amount done being usuallyreckoned by thefathom.

        Tut-work is also employed upon the lode itself, though from the advantages generally considered to arise from the tribute system []
