FromSpanishtomín, fromAndalusian Arabicثُمْن(ṯúmn), fromArabicثُمْن(ṯumn,one-eighth), from the rootن(n)م(m)ث(ṯ-m-n). Originally used in reference to it forming one-eighth of acastellano.
