Coined by British comedian and writerRob Newman in 2006, in his stage showThere Is No Planet B: A history of the world backwards.[1][2] In 2007, Newman performed a song calledNo Planet B at Heathrow Climate Camp, after which activists painted the phrase on placards, first at the Heathrow Climate Camp, and then at COP15 in Copenhagen. The phrase was later popularized by British researcher and writerMike Berners-Lee in his 2019 bookThere Is No Planet B: A Handbook for the Make or Break Years. It is aplay on words based on the phrase "there is noplan B".
