In German, one generally says:Er sitzt auf dem Baum(literally“He’s sitting on the tree”), and accordingly:Sie klettert auf den Baum(literally“She’s climbing onto the tree”). The construction within (as in English) is not entirely impossible, but it is rare. There is a chance that it may be misunderstood as “inside a hollow tree trunk”.
