Thephonemes ofMauritian Creole are very similar to that of StandardFrench. However, French/ʃ/ and/ʒ/ have respectively depalatalized to/s/ and/z/ in Mauritian, and the front vowels/y/ and/ø/ have respectively been unrounded to/i/ and/e/.^[1]^[2]
