  • FromMiddle Persian orParthian*ābrēk possibly viaClassical Syriacܐܒܪܝܩܐ(ʾaḇrēqā), attested asClassical Persianآبریز(ābrēz) fromآب(âb,water) + the present stem of the verbریختن(rêxtan,to pour). CompareNorthern Kurdishavrêjk(ewer).
