- (money)A tally forobols.
The basic acrophonic units areΙ 1,𐅃 5,Δ 10,Η 100,Χ 1000 andΜ 10,000. Ι is iterated forΙΙ 2,ΙΙΙ 3 andΙΙΙΙ 4, and are added to 𐅃 5 for𐅃Ι 6,𐅃ΙΙ 7,𐅃ΙΙΙ 8 and𐅃ΙΙΙΙ 9.
Unlike higher digits, Ι is not joined toΤ andΣ for quantities oftalents andstaters. Rather, the letters Τ and Σ are used as tally units, as in ΤΤΤ (3 talents) and Τ𐅐𐅏ΣΣΣ (1 talent 18 staters). An exception is made fordrachmas, where the special symbol𐅂 is used, e.g. 𐅂𐅂𐅂𐅂 (4 drachmas). In this system, Ι is used forobols, as in 𐅂𐅂𐅂ΙΙΙ (3 drachmas 3 obols, or 3½ drachmas), 𐅄Δ𐅃𐅂ΙΙΙΙ (66 drachmas 4 obols).
