Zirconium(IV) sulfide is theinorganic compound with the formulaZrS2. It is a violet-brown solid. It adopts a layered structure similar to that ofcadmium iodide.
Like the closely relatedtitanium disulfide, ZrS2 is prepared by heating sulfur and zirconium metal. It can be purified byvapor transport using iodine.[2]
