Zirə Futbol Klubu (pronounced[ziɾæ]) is anAzerbaijani professionalfootball club based inZirə,Baku. The club competes in theAzerbaijan Premier League.
The club was established in 2014 and immediately joined theAzerbaijan First Division.[2]
Despite finishing 2nd in its inaugural season in theAzerbaijan Premier League,[3] the club wasn't allowed to compete in theUEFA Europa League.[4]
On 27 December 2016,Adil Shukurov had his contract as manager terminated by mutual consent, withAykhan Abbasov taking over as manager until the end of the2016–17 season.[5]
Aykhan Abbasov resigned as manager on 29 August 2018,[6] withSamir Abasov being announced as his replacement the same day.[7]
On 8 October 2019, Abasov left Zira by mutual consent,[8] withZaur Hashimov being appointed as manager the following day, until the end of the season.[9]
On 17 July 2020,Rashad Sadygov was announced as Zira's new manager on a three-year contract.[10]
