TheZhangjiakou-Hohhot high-speed railway is ahigh-speed railway located inChina. It connectsHohhot, the capital city ofInner Mongolia, toZhangjiakou inHebei province. The line has a length of 286 km (178 mi) as a double-tracked passenger dedicated line, with seven stations situated along its route.[1] Construction was commenced on April 28, 2014.[2] Connection with theBeijing–Zhangjiakou intercity railway enables high speed rail services from the central region of Inner Mongolia toBeijing, reducing the travel time between Beijing and Hohhot from nine hours to under three hours.[3] The western section from Ulanqab to Hohhot East was opened on August 3, 2017.[4] The section from Zhangjiakou to Ulanqab opened in December 2019.[5]

Route description

Starting fromZhangjiakou, heading west throughWanquan County andHuai'an County toHuai'an. Continuing westward throughShangyi County before crossing the border intoInner Mongolia'sXinghe County toXinghe North. Further westward across theQahar Right Front Banner to theJining District toUlanqab. Shadowing the route of the G6 Expressway the line then comes toZhuozi East inZhuozi County along withQixiaying South. Finally this line terminates atHohhot East.
