Zawtar al-Gharbiyah (Arabic:زوطر الغربية) is a municipality in theNabatieh District inLebanon.
In the 1596tax records, it was named as a village,Sarqiyya, in theOttomannahiya (subdistrict) of Sagif under theliwa' (district) ofSafad, with a population of 24 households, allMuslim. The villagers paid a fixed tax-rate of 25% on agricultural products, such aswheat,barley, fruit trees, goats and beehives, in addition to "occasional revenues"; a total of 1,240akçe.[1][2]
In 2014,Muslims made up 99.47% of registered voters in Zawtar al-Gharbiyah. 98.78% of the voters wereShiite Muslims.[3]
