Zajączek[zaˈjɔnt͡ʂɛk] is avillage in the administrative district ofGmina Skórcz, withinStarogard County,Pomeranian Voivodeship, in northern Poland.[1] It lies approximately 4 km (2 mi) west ofSkórcz, 20 km (12 mi) south ofStarogard Gdański, and 65 km (40 mi) south of the regional capitalGdańsk. It is located in the ethnocultural region ofKociewie in the historic region ofPomerania.
During theGerman occupation of Poland (World War II), the local forest was the site of a massacre of around 100Poles fromSkórcz and various nearby villages, perpetrated by the German gendarmerie andSelbstschutz in 1939, as part of theIntelligenzaktion.[2]
