Zackary Arthur Herrera (born September 12, 2006) is an American actor, known for portraying the lead role ofJake Wheeler inChucky, a television continuation of theChild's Play film franchise, for which he was nominated for theSaturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor in a Network or Cable Television Series,.[1] He also played Sammy Sullivan inThe 5th Wave, and had a recurring role as a young Jeff Piccirillo on the Showtime seriesKidding.
Arthur made his acting debut in 2014 playing Zack Novak in theAmazon Studios' comedy-drama seriesTransparent along withJeffrey Tambor.[2][3]
Arthur played one of the lead roles, Sammy Sullivan, in the filmThe 5th Wave (2016), along withChloë Grace Moretz andNick Robinson, and directed byJ Blakeson.[2][3][4] He was one of hundreds of young actors who auditioned for the role.[3] The film was released onJanuary 22, 2016, byColumbia Pictures.[5]
He also played a role in theCBS comedy pilotThe Half of It in 2015,[6] and appeared in theGrey's Anatomy episode, "Trigger Happy".
In 2017, he starred as Josh Ryan in thehorrorcomedy filmMom and Dad.[7] In 2021, he was cast in the television seriesChucky as the show's main protagonist,Jake Wheeler.[8]The show was renewed for a second season and aired on October 5, 2022. In January 2023, the series was renewed for a third season,[9] which premiered on October 4, 2023, and aired in two parts, with the second half coming on April 10, 2024.[10][11][12]
