Zach Robinson is an American composer and music producer.[1][2] He is known for co-composing the score for theNetflix seriesCobra Kai andRoku’s filmWeird: The Al Yankovic Story, for which he won aPrimetime Emmy Award in 2023 forOutstanding Music in a Limited Series, TV Movie, or Anthology Series, alongside collaboratorLeo Birenberg.[3][4] The duo were also nominated for a 2024Grammy Award forBest Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media forWeird: The Al Yankovic Story and, in 2025, for a Primetime Emmy Award forOutstanding Music Composition for a Series (Original Dramatic Score) for theirCobra Kai score.[5][6]
Robinson earned a degree in music composition fromNorthwestern University in 2012.[7] After graduating, he worked under the film composerChristophe Beck, contributing additional music to films such asFrozen (2013),Edge of Tomorrow (2014),Ant-Man (2015),Hot Pursuit (2015), andThe Peanuts Movie (2015).[1]
Robinson has collaborated with composerLeo Birenberg on several projects.[8] Their notable works include composing the score for theNetflix seriesCobra Kai (2018–2025), set in The Karate Kid universe, as well asWeird: The Al Yankovic Story (2022), thePeacock seriesTwisted Metal (2023), andMarvel'sYour Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man (2025).[9][10] Independently, he has composed for theCBS seriesMatlock (2024–2025), the Netflix docu-seriesAmerica's Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (2024–2025),Wrestlers (2023),Hulu’sFright Krewe (2023) and more.[11][12]
