José Maria Rodrigues Alves, better known asZé Maria,[2] (born May 18, 1949 inBotucatu[3]) is a former association footballer.[2]
During his career (1966–1983) he played forFerroviária,Portuguesa,Corinthians andInternacional (RS) as adefender.[3]
For theBrazilian team he played in 46 games from 1968 to 1978.[3] He was a member of the Brazilian squad at the1970 FIFA World Cup[4] (as a reserve who did not play), but he played in four matches during the1974 FIFA World Cup.[2]
Zé Maria's sonFernando Lázaro is a coach and development analyst, and worked mainly at Corinthians.[5]
