Vas Coleman (born May 25, 1999),[1] known professionally asYung Bans, is an American rapper fromSt. Louis, Missouri. He is best known his 2017 single "Lonely" (featuringLil Skies), which receivedgold certification by theRecording Industry Association of America (RIAA).

Early life

Vas Coleman was born inSt. Louis, Missouri, Coleman moved toAtlanta, Georgia in the seventh grade. He attendedLangston Hughes High School, as well asVirgil I. Grissom High School in Huntsville, AL.[2] His influences includeLil Wayne,Chief Keef andTyler, the Creator.[2]

Career

Coleman began rapping in sixth grade under the moniker Ban Boy,[2] but decided to make a career out of it in high school after first aspiring to play basketball. His first single was with fellow rapperPlayboi Carti, titled "4Tspoon",[3] released on May 21, 2015.[4] Later that year in November, he andSki Mask the Slump God featured on late rapperXXXTentacion's single "ILOVEITWHENTHEYRUN".[5] In 2016, Coleman featured on Smokepurpp's single "Damage".[6] The single was released on November 23, 2016. On December 22, 2016, Coleman released his second single "Right Through You".[7]

Coleman started getting more recognition when he released his first twoextended plays, the eponymousYung Bans andYung Bans Vol. 2 in December 2017.[8][9]

Coleman also released the song "Ridin" featuring YBN Nahmir and Landon Cube in late June 2018.[citation needed]

In 2018, Coleman also released three other installations in the series, includingYung Bans Vol. 3,Yung Bans Vol. 4, andYung Bans Vol. 5.In November of that year, he collaborated with fellow rapperJasiah on the track 'Shenanigans', produced by Jasiah andRonny J.[citation needed]

In July 2019, Coleman released his debut studio album titledMisunderstood.[10]
