Yingtan (simplified Chinese:鹰潭;traditional Chinese:鷹潭;pinyin:Yīngtán;lit. 'Eagle Pond') is aprefecture-level city in the east ofJiangxi province, People's Republic of China, borderingFujian to the southeast. Its location near the trisection of Jiangxi, Fujian, andZhejiang has made it a strategically important city for centuries. Today, it continues to be a majorrail transport hub. It is best known as theCapital of Copper, and located here isJiangxi Copper and its theGuixi Smelter.

Near the city of Yingtan is the resort area ofMount Longhu, which purports to be the birthplace ofTaoism and hence, has great symbolic value to Taoists. The region has many interesting temples, cave complexes, mountains, and villages.

The municipal executive, legislature, andjudiciary are inYuehu District (月湖区), together with theCPC andPublic Security bureaus.
