Xiangtan County (simplified Chinese:湘潭县;traditional Chinese:湘潭縣;pinyin:Xiāngtán Xiàn) is acounty inHunan Province, China; it is under the administration ofXiangtan City. Located on the east central Hunan, the county is bordered to the north byYuhu,Yuetang Districts andXiangtan City, to the west byXiangxiang City andShuangfeng County, to the south byHengshan andHengdong Counties, and to the east byZhuzhou County andTianyuan District ofZhuzhou City. Xiangtan County covers an area of 2,132.80 km2 (823.48 sq mi), and as of 2015, it had a registered population of 979,600 and a resident population of 857,200.[1] The county has 14 towns and 3 townships under its jurisdiction, and the county seat is atYisuhe Town (易俗河镇).[2]
