Xavier Neyens (born October 29, 2006) is an American professionalbaseballthird baseman in theHouston Astros organization.
Neyens attendedMount Vernon High School inMount Vernon, Washington.[1] He played third base and was also apitcher. He hit .422 with threehome runs as a freshman in 2022 and was named the Northwest Conference MVP.[2] As a sophomore in 2023, he played in 14 games due to an injury and hit .405 with two home runs.[3] As a junior in 2024, he hit .455 with three home runs, 24runs batted in (RBI) and 20stolen bases and went 8–0 with a 1.26earned run average (ERA) and 60strikeouts as a pitcher. He was named the WashingtonGatorade Baseball Player of the Year and theSkagit Valley Herald Baseball Player of the Year.[4][5]
In July 2024, Neyens competed in the High SchoolHome Run Derby which took place in between rounds at theMajor League Baseball Home Run Derby atGlobe Life Field.[6]
Professional career
[edit]Neyens was a top prospect for the2025 Major League Baseball draft.[7][8] He is committed to playcollege baseball atOregon State University. TheHouston Astros drafted Neyens with the 21st overall selection in the draft. He signed with Houston for a $4.12 million signing bonus on July 19, 2025.[9]
