Xavier (Xabier inBasque andNavarro-Aragonese; andJavier inCastilian) is a town andmunicipality located in the province and autonomous community ofNavarre, northernSpain, with a population of 112. The name is theRomanized form of the originalEtxeberri (Basque for "new house").
It is renowned for being home to theCastle of Xavier, partiallydemolished in 1516 and later restored, and an attached Basilica. It is the ultimate origin of the given nameXabier / Xavier.
