Wyatt Hawn Russell (born July 10, 1986)[1] is an American actor and former ice hockey player. He is the son of actorsKurt Russell andGoldie Hawn.

As an actor, he portrayed Corporal Lewis Ford inJulius Avery's 2018 horror filmOverlord, Dud inAMC'sLodge 49 andJohn Walker / U.S. Agent in theMarvel Cinematic UniverseDisney+ seriesThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier (2021) andWhat If…? (2024). He is set to reprise the role of John Walker in the filmThunderbolts* (2025).

Early life

Russell was born on July 10, 1986, in Los Angeles, California, to actorsKurt Russell andGoldie Hawn.[1][2][3] He is a grandson of the late character actorBing Russell, paternal half-brother of Boston Russell, and maternal half-brother ofOliver Hudson andKate Hudson.[4]

Career

Ice hockey

Russell playedice hockey for numerous amateur and pro hockey teams as a goaltender including theRichmond Sockeyes,Langley Hornets,Coquitlam Express,Chicago Steel,Brampton Capitals, andGroningen Grizzlies.[5] He also playedcollege ice hockey for theChargers at theUniversity of Alabama in Huntsville. His professional hockey career was cut short in 2010 due to injuries.[6]

Russell appeared in films, such asSoldier,Cowboys & Aliens,This Is 40,Love and Honor,We Are What We Are, andGoon: Last of the Enforcers. In December 2013, it was announced that he was cast asDuane Allman inRandall Miller'sMidnight Rider, a biopic ofGregg Allman.[7] He also appeared in the 2014 film22 Jump Street.[8] In 2016, he co-starred in a film that premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival calledFolk Hero & Funny Guy. In 2016, he starred in "Playtest", an episode of theanthology seriesBlack Mirror.[9]

In 2018, he andJovan Adepo played the leads in the World War II-sethorror filmOverlord.[10] In 2021, he starred asJohn Walker in theDisney+ seriesThe Falcon and the Winter Soldier.[11] He will reprise the role in the 2025 filmThunderbolts*.

In 2022, Russell took on the role of real-life murderer Dan Lafferty in the FXminiseriesUnder the Banner of Heaven. In July 2022, he joined his father inApple TV+ andLegendary Television'sGodzilla series,Monarch: Legacy of Monsters which is set in the world of Legendary'sMonsterVerse franchise.[12]

Russell starred in the 2024 supernatural filmNight Swim. He is also set to star inSteven Spielberg's upcoming UFO movieDisclosure.

Personal life

In 2012, Russell married stylist Sanne Hamers, whom he met in the Netherlands while playing hockey.[13][14] The couple separated in 2015 and divorced in 2017.[15][16] Russell began a relationship with actressMeredith Hagner in 2015 after meeting her on the set of the filmFolk Hero & Funny Guy.[17] They married in 2019.[18] Their first child, a son, was born in 2021.[19] Their second son was born in February 2024.[20]

Russell was a goaltender for the2022 NHL All-Star Game's breakaway challenge.[21]

Russell co-foundedLake Hour, a premium sparkling cocktail brand, with film producer Richard Peete in 2023.[22]
