WvDial (pronounced 'weave-dial'[1]) is a utility that helps in makingmodem-based connections to the Internet that is included in some Linux distributions.[2] WvDial is aPoint-to-Point Protocoldialer: it dials a modem and startspppd in order to connect to theInternet.[3] It uses thewvstreams library.[4]
WvDial uses heuristics to guess how to dial and log into a server, alleviating the need to write a login script.[5]
