Wimboldsley is a village and formercivil parish, now in the parish ofStanthorne and Wimboldsley, in theCheshire West and Chester district, in the ceremonial county ofCheshire, England, 2 miles south ofMiddlewich. The population of the parish at the2011 census was 153.[1]
A depot for the currently under constructionHigh Speed 2 railway will be situated here.[2]
A small area in the west of the civil parish falls within the Weaver Valley Area of Special County Value.[3] Adjacent to this area, on the eastern bank of theRiver Weaver, is theSite of Special Scientific Interest of Wimboldsley Wood.[4][5]
Wimboldsley was formerly atownship in the parish of Middlewich,[6] and in 1866, Wimboldsley became a civil parish.[7] 1 April 2015, the civil parish amalgamated withStanthorne to form "Stanthorne and Wimboldsley".[8][9][10]
