The Wilderness 40 is a development of the 1979Wilderness 38.[1][5]

Production

The boat was built byWilderness Yachts inSanta Cruz, California,United States, who built at least five examples, although the design is now out of production.[1][6]

Design

The Wilderness 40 is a small recreationalkeelboat, built predominantly offiberglass, with wood trim. It has amasthead sloop rig, an internally-mounted spade-typerudder and a fixed finkeel. It displaces 9,000 lb (4,082 kg) and carries 3,969 lb (1,800 kg) of lead ballast. The boat has a draft of 6.50 ft (1.98 m) with the standard keel.[1][2][5]

The boat is fitted with a JapaneseYanmardiesel engine.[1][5]
