Caerleon Castle [Wikidata], Newport (Grade II*) (the Castle ruins now form the structure of theHanbury Arms public house but more is needed on that article regarding the Castle itself
The local government situation and boundary-lines are quite complicated; I am not an expert, but I think I've untangled it, based on looking at the legislation but also at wiki sources (which I know you are not supposed to do). A second opinion would be appreciated before I publish it, especially from someone local to the area and familiar with the politics, an expert on Welsh local government - or someone who just wants to fact-check my logic and see if you reach the same conclusions as I did based on the available evidence.
FYI, I intend to put the communities of Aberdare West and Llwydcoed, and the electoral ward of Aberdare West/Llwydcoed on the same page, under the electoral ward, in order to make clear the difference between them; and redirect any links to Aberdare West to the Aberdare West/Llwydcoed page. This seems more elegant, less stubby/repetitive, and more explanatory than keeping them separate. Will continue researching, and will publish in a few weeks if help not found; if you come across this message, I haven't ever posted it, and a lot of time has passed, please take and use the workNinquelosse (talk) 00:10, 6 November 2020 (UTC)
@Ninquelosse: wouldn't it be better to have the article at the community's name namely "Aberdare West" if the community and ward don't have separate articles? since communities tend to be stable far longer while wards are frequently abolished etc and we tend to organize hierarchy by community not ward.Crouch, Swale (talk) 19:37, 22 November 2020 (UTC)
@Crouch, Swale: - possibly? I don't know, it's a bit of a nightmare. There are wiki lists and categories of both the communities and wards, and the fundamental problem this page has is that for most of Wales, the community and the wards line up nice and neatly, and for this one it doesn't. I don't know if the community or ward ought to take priority. I welcome somebody taking the draft I've made out of my sandbox, polishing and publishing it however they feel is best; I feel out of my depth, both in terms of my knowledge of Welsh local government, and good wiki etiquette.Ninquelosse (talk) 22:01, 26 November 2020 (UTC)
Then create separate articles for both, the ward shouldn't have priority over the community.Crouch, Swale (talk) 22:05, 26 November 2020 (UTC)
@Ninquelosse: To throw in my tuppence worth, I agree the community takes precedence. I've been guilty in the past of creating articles about electoral wards that are non-notable. This seems to be a non-notable ward. When I createdAberdare East I looked at the options of creating a ward article and couldn't find anything to mark out Aberdare West/Llwydcoed as anything other than a run-of-the-mill political division, without any news coverage or attention about the ward.Sionk (talk) 13:00, 21 February 2021 (UTC)
I've created aAberdare West article, it being a populated place.Sionk (talk) 15:44, 22 January 2023 (UTC)
Welsh Centre for International Affairs – in need of much more detail about its work, given it has been around since 1973. The page currently only gives a basic mission statement. Considering it had a budget of £1.2m in 2017 there must be lots to discuss about its work.
