SomeWikipedians have formed aproject to better organize information in articles related toanimals. This page and its subpages contain their suggestions; it is hoped that this project will help to focus the efforts of other Wikipedians. If you would like to help, please inquire on thetalk page and see theTask list. To join the project, add your usernamehere.

ThisWikiProject aims primarily to describe, create and maintain articles on all animals, that is, all species belonging to the kingdomAnimalia. This project's scope also includeszoologists andzoology-related articles.

Goals:

1. Create and maintain articles about animals to an encyclopedic standard.
2. Describe all families, genera and species of the kingdom Animalia.
3. MaintainCategory:Animals and its subcategories.
4. Assess and rate articles under the scope of Wikiproject Animals.

For articles where a common name is used for the article title, the consensus way to write the combination of common name plus scientific name in the lead is (perthis discussion):

Namely, bold common name followed by bolded and italic scientific name in parentheses.
