Similar to last time, this editor has similar editing predispositions, where they are keen on the House of Savoy (insisting the Fascist colonial projects was mainly the Kingdom of Italy's instead of Fascist Italy). The dead giveaway is that they take issue with the word "occupation of the Ethiopian Empire." Furthermore, they have plastered the portraits of Victor Emmanuel III on many pages as "Emperor of Colonized Ethiopia". This is particularly dangerous because it references 1930s and 40s fascist propaganda claiming that Mussolini successfully colonized Ethiopia (which has resurfaced in modern Italian fascist circles), while in reality it was actually an important failure of fascism in Italy (the never ending war left it weak by the time the Second World War in Europe started). Before I try to undo any changes or post this to the admin bulletin, I wanted to check if we are dealing with the same editor. Here is an example of similar edits:
What is interesting to me is that he is making good progress in his goals, if he has any. Because I can only fix pages related to the second world war, House of Savoy, and Fascist Italy, the rest of the vandalism remains. The Libyan, Albanian and Ethiopian wikiprojects are not as responsive in removing the edits (a lot of Jheeeeeeteegh vandalism remains on their pages). It does not help to lock the pages because there are so many pages (+he can get auto-confirmed rapidly, like he did with this account) and ips have been helpful in reverting his vandalism. I think the best we can do is keep track of his accounts and have some collaboration b.w the wikiprojects to revert the edits. Thank you for helping!Historyhiker (talk)14:14, 21 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Girth Summit You are right, my sincerest apologies, I have removed the offensive language. Please understand I did not intend it as a put down but that the persistence of user may not be correlated to bad intent (noting that I am wrong to assume that to begin with).Historyhiker (talk)14:53, 21 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Girth Summit On the topic of ip, I noticed that he uses some kind of proxy to do these things. I noticed for example he edited using ips from 3 continents, which after being banned, those three ips stopped editing as well. The ips looked something like this (2a01:e11:17:40b0:...) if that helps. On the topic of behavioural evaluation,User:PhilKnight andUser:Izno have looked into this editor before and may be able to identify if it is the same editor.Historyhiker (talk)14:58, 21 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Asilvering I have spent a lot of time removing Fascist narrative in the AOI page therefore its the best place I have gotten to know the sockmater's edits, though I have tried to fetch as many instances as possible below. Here are similarities in edits that have lead me to open this ticket:
Insistence on House of Savoy instead of Fascist Italy:
Master (Master Undo fix),Master: Master was keen on removing references to Fascist Italy in favor of House of Savoy.
Puppet,Puppet: King's portrait across multiple pages instead of highlighting Mussolini.
Taking issue with the word "occupation of the Ethiopian Empire":
User has been banned for vandalism. After a careful look at the edits, the user is able to speak Italian; They were able to convert and create the English version ofPietro_Antonelli. It seems like they were also engaged in talks regarding Ethiopia and Eritrea which I assume is a distraction. I fixed the King's portrait and Italian pages. I have notified editors who may know more about the nature of their edits to the Ethiopian and Eritrea articles. This case may be closed.Historyhiker (talk)02:06, 9 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
^N.B this was one of the ip ranges talking to itself (master editor).[1]
^The section of the book the editor references is titled "ITALIAN COLONIZATION IN ETHIOPIA: PLANS AND PROJECTS" but is about how the project plans were grand but failed because of resistance and lack of funds.
So, I'll start by saying that commenting on another editor's mental state or speculating on whether or not they are neurodivergent, is seriously bad form - don't do that, even if it is a sockpuppet account we are talking about. In this case, I do see the similarities in behaviour and have run a check, but from the data in the CU logs we are looking at different continents here. There has been a time gap and people do move, and I obviously can't rule out MEAT, so I will leave this open should someone want to perform a behavioural evaluation.GirthSummit (blether)14:46, 21 September 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Same pattern of Insistence on House of Savoy instead of Fascist Italy (removing the word "Fascist"). Possibly related toUser:Menhelicks (see below, banned for similar behavior) if not all the same master.
Thischange by possible Puppet as a Edit summary very similar to Jheeeeeeteegh (master) talking points:
Puppet: "My mistakes. It was a Colonial possession of the Kingdom of Italy, a modern Italian state from 1861 to 1946"
master example: " "Kingdom of Italy" (1861-1946) continued to be the legal configuration of Italy, "Fascist Italy" (1922-1943) is an historiographic concept used to refer to the Italian kingdom during the Fascist dictatorship."
Edit Overlap of PrimeNick with Jheeeeeeteegh is too large to post here. 114 articles overlap and PrimeNick joined 2 June 2025. Edits are similar, removing the word "Fascist" in Second Italo-Ethiopian War articles for examplePrimeNick example diff.Historyhiker15:35, 12 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
Hello. My edit was simple, the Kingdom of Italy occupied Ethiopia from 1936 to 1941, there is no other Italian state/country controlled Ethiopia other than the Kingdom of Italy. My edit at the Italian East Africa was only on Infobox section. I already acknowledged in the lead part of the article; "Italian East Africa was a colonial possession of Fascist Italy....", since we used Fascist Italy to describe the Kingdom of Italy under Fascist rule. Fascist Italy isn't a state but rather a common term. Note that even in theFascist Italy article's lead, it goes with: "The Kingdom of Italy was governed by the National Fascist Party with Benito Mussolini as prime minister....". It's likeLiberal Italy, a term used to describe the Kingdom of Italy during the Liberal Period from 1870 to 1914 which unfortunately we don't have an article on that.— Precedingunsigned comment added byBote1456 (talk •contribs)09:12, 15 October 2025 (UTC)[reply]
