Gay hullFuel Hull

[edit]
The result of the debate was : Target deleted byUser:Risker asblatant advertising. Redirect deleted byUser:Richardcavell as aredirect with no target. Non-admin closure.UsaSatsui (talk)17:07, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly created as an attack against the clientele of the target article's subject. No reference in the target article. Blanchardb-MeMyEarsMyMouth-timed22:13, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think it's an attack.Fuel Hull is a gay nightclub. The article was speedy-deleted for blatant advertising, which is fair enough considering its content. I've deleted the redirect in sympathy with the speedy-deletion. -Richard Cavell (talk)01:04, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, I did notice that the target article was about a gay nightclub, I just don't think the gay community refers to it as "Gay hull". But since this discussion is all but closed now, any further argument is moot. --Blanchardb-MeMyEarsMyMouth-timed01:28, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Macromanagement (computer gaming)Micromanagement (computer gaming)

[edit]
The result of the debate wasKeep.Lenticel(talk)00:08, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Macromanagement is the exact opposite of micromanagement. Micromanagement involves minor issues like giving commands to individual units, whereas macromanagement involves keeping track of the game's economy. The very meaning of "micro" versus "macro" should make this obvious. Yet, for some reason, macromanagement redirects to micromanagement. This makes no sense and can only confuse people, especially as the word "macromanagement" isn't even listed as a comparison to micromanagement in the article.DDSaeger (talk)15:23, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • This was previously discussed at RfD inNov 2007 and before that at AfD inDec 2005. I don't see any new evidence or reason to overturn the last RfD discussion. Those concerns still apply. 03:04, 14 July 2008 (UTC)
    • Those concerns are nonsense. They refer to micromanagement as "losing sight of the big picture by paying excessive attention to details", while they refer to macromanagement as "getting it right" or "staying so focused on the big picture that you ignore the details". This is bollocks. Macromanagement and micromanagement are both essential to playing a good game of, to name the most notable game (due to the fact that it is the only game with a professional league, to my knowledge), Starcraft. Micromanagement involves managing the details, while macromanagement involves the big picture. You can't win a game without being very good at both. If you don't want two articles for this, then the main article should be called "Micromanagement and macromanagement (computer gaming).DDSaeger (talk)21:28, 14 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
      • You're missing the core point of the prior discussions. People have written independently about the concept of micromanagement as applied to computer gaming. No one in the prior discussions (or here) has providedevidence orsources reliably demonstrating thatothers have written about the concept of macromanagement using that term and in this context. Encyclopedias are, by definition, tertiary sources. Until we have writings of others which we can synopsize, we have nothing to say. In the meantime, the redirect provides a historical record in case anyone ever does restore (and possibly rename) the micromanagement article to a version covering both topics.Rossami(talk)15:44, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Eddie Wilson (athlete)Eddie Wilson (American football)

[edit]
The result of the debate wasRetarget toEddie Wilson.Lenticel(talk)00:02, 22 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Redirect is confusing. There are multiple athletes named Eddie Wilson. The pageEddie Wilson is already nothing but a disambiguation page to athletes by that name, so the redirect is both unclear and redundant.Dewelar (talk)23:37, 12 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another issue I just discovered here: there is another Eddie Wilson page (Eddie Wilson (fictional character)) which is not on the disambiguation. I assume this page should be added to said page, but if so, is it still a valid target for "Eddie Wilson (athlete)"? If not, what do we do with it then?Dewelar (talk)01:28, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think retargeting this redirect to a dab page that also lists people who are not athletes would be in any way disruptive. --Blanchardb-MeMyEarsMyMouth-timed01:58, 13 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
