About WP:LGBTQ+

Welcome toWikiProject LGBTQ+ studies! We're a group of editors who aim to improve Wikipedia's coverage oflesbian,gay,bisexual,transgender, andqueer (LGBTQ+) topics, includingqueer studies. WP:LGBTQ+ brings together Wikipedians of all sexual orientations, gender identities, geographic locations, and personal backgrounds to collaborate on expanding and improving LGBTQ+ content across Wikipedia.

The scope of WP:LGBTQ+ includes:

  1. Identifying and categorizing LGBTQ+ articles on Wikipedia
  2. Developing and applying standards for assessing LGBTQ+ articles
  3. Improving existing LGBTQ+ articles and ensuring they are in-line with Wikipedia's standards and policies
  4. Identifying notable LGBTQ+ topics not yet included in Wikipedia and creating articles for them
  5. Identifying and developing standardized tables, templates and categorization schemes for LGBTQ+ articles
  6. Identifying potential material that may be transwikied — (i.e. collect information for possible high-quality LGBTQ+ textbooks forWikibooks)
  7. MaintainingPortal:LGBTQ

This project does not extol any point of view, political or otherwise, other than that of a neutral documentarian.

Joining the discussion atWT:LGBTQ+ is a great way to get started. Ask questions, suggest articles for creation or improvement, and connect with other WP:LGBTQ+ participants. Anyone with an interest in improving LGBTQ+ content on Wikipedia is free to participate.

ForDiscord users, the channel#wplgbt exists on theWikipedia:Discord community server as a place to facilitate real-time discussion and conversation.

Collaboration

AtCollaboration, you can find a list of WP:LGBTQ+ participants and task groups.

  • Anyone with a Wikipedia user account—regardless of sexual orientation or gender identity—is free to participate in the WikiProject. You can sign up at theparticipants list, but that is not a requirement to start contributing.
  • If you know another language besides English, please consider adding your name to ourList of Translators.
  • ThePerson Task Force is a working group dedicated to ensuring quality and coverage of biography articles of LGBTQ persons.

Editing

VisitEditing for tools to help create, assess, and improve articles on LGBTQ+ topics.

  • Alerts – Lists active discussions for all project-tagged articles, including proposed moves and deletions, requests for comment, and nominations for featured content. Bot-updated daily.
  • Assessment – Lists changes to the quality assessment for all project-tagged articles. Can be used to review when articles are added to or removed from the project's scope. Bot-updated daily.
  • Watchlist – Shows recent changes to all articles linked fromWP:LGBTQ+/Watchlist.
  • Articles up for deletion – Shows recent articles in the WikiProject nominated for deletion.
  • Cleanup – All project-tagged articles with maintenance templates. Bot-updated weekly.
  • Core – A collection of 120 articles of fundamental importance to the project's mandate.
  • Vital – Project-tagged articles that have been identified as vital atWP:VITAL.
  • Popular – The 500 most-viewed project-tagged articles. Bot-updated monthly.
  • Drafts – A category containing all project-tagged draft articles.
  • New – Search results for articles that match LGBTQ+ search terms. These may be reviewed to determine if they arein-scope.
