A complete article about a Canadian community should have the following elements and sections:

- Lead - Context (what and where), summary of the article, total population, name origin, see alsoWikipedia:Lead section
- History - Historic events, incorporation history²
- Geography - Geographic setting, geographical features, climate, communities/neighbourhoods
- Demographics - UseCanada 2016 Census data where available (2016 Census Profiles)
- Economy - Dominant industries, agriculture if applicable, major employers
- Arts and culture - Cultural venues, festivals and significant cultural events
- Attractions - Museums and other points of interest, parks (local, regional, provincial parks), recreation venues
- Sports - Sport teams and significant athletic events
- Government - Governing body (council, mayor)², administrative bodies, political representation, police and crime, military facilities
- Infrastructure - Transportation, utilities, health care, amenities
- Education - Schools, colleges, responsible organizations
- Media¹ - Local newspapers, TV, and radio stations
Optional sections can include the following:
- 12.Sister cities - List ofsister cities or twin towns (national and/or international)
- 13.Notable people - Names of notable people born, previously resided in, or residing in the community. Includeonly people with a Wikipedia article, see alsoWP:NLIST.Note: Larger cities, with possibly thousands of notable individuals, usually do not include such a list, but may have a separate article ([[List of notable people from ...]]) that can be linked.
Closing sections should include:
