    Odd behaviour in political articles

    [edit]

Could I get some more eyes on thecontributions ofthis editor, please? Heavily active in Australian political articles, making significant edits. At the very least, adding in large quotes from dubious sources – Crikey etc. – to support infobox changes seems to serve little useful purpose. --Pete (talk)17:57, 11 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

What wrongdoing exactly are you accusing @Wikiuser4999 of? I'm sure this user like everyone else is simply trying to improve the encyclopaedia.
If you are going to say thatCrikey is a bad source to use then you should definitely discuss the issues at hand in a request for comment (RfC) atWikipedia:Reliable sources/Perennial sources, I think you can absolutely label Crikey as areliable source because guidelines are not contradictory to that label.Qwerty123M (talk)03:49, 12 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I'd like more eyes on this editor. These edits are unusual, especially for a new editor. --Pete (talk)08:43, 12 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Unusual activity is not a bad thing. It may be that this user is adding information that other editors have overlooked.More eyes on this editor sounds like a very cruel and unwarranted invasion of privacy; editors should have autonomy to make edits freely as they choose perWP:BEBOLD. You cannot strictly police every edit like this, that would not comply withWikipedia:Ownership of content. A new user can make large edits, there is no guideline that I know of to prevent that!
Can you please mention any specific instances of wrongdoing by this user?Qwerty123M (talk)09:17, 12 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

Please add more citations to this BLP, as soon as possible.Bearian (talk)01:24, 12 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

@Bearian: There are millions of pages on Wikipedia that need improvement. Wikipedia editors are a limited resource who generally edit what topics they are interested in. If they were interested in fixing pages with maintenance templates, those editors would be going through maintenance categories. Coming here to demand we improve whatever article you want us to do is annoying.Steelkamp (talk)09:28, 12 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
Seeing as that article has a lack ofreliable sources, I have nominated it to be deleted under an Articles for Deletion (WP:AFD)discussion.Qwerty123M (talk)09:29, 12 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't demand. I asked, please, as soon as possible. I went to a relevant WikiProject – to warn you of a known risk. I won't bother you folks anymore.Bearian (talk)14:32, 12 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

2026 Invasion Day protest bombing attempt

    [edit]

Hi there, I have startedDraft:2026 Invasion Day protest bombing attempt. I thought it would be good for that incident to have an article given the media attention and commentary in Australia and abroad (including New Zealand where I live). It just needs some expansion and formatting with the references. There are some articles mentioning the topic like2026 in Australia,Terrorism in Australia andList of terrorist incidents in Australia but it currently has no central article focusing on the topic. Feel free to edit or to give feedback.Andykatib (talk)03:04, 12 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]

The destination for the draft article presently redirects to2026 in Australia. That would require a technical move to address.Andykatib (talk)03:05, 12 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
No worries, article has been published. Wanted to thank everyone who worked on it.Andykatib (talk)18:07, 12 February 2026 (UTC)[reply]
