White ethnostate

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
State whose citizenry is limited to White people

Awhite ethnostate is a proposed type ofstate in which residence andcitizenship would be limited toWhites.

In theUnited States, proposals for the establishment of such a state are advanced bywhite supremacist andwhite separatist factions such as theKu Klux Klan andNeo-Nazi groups. Some of these factions claim that a certain part of the country should have a white majority and other factions claim that the entire country should have a white majority.[1][2]

Historically, as well as in modern times, the Pacific Northwest (Washington,Oregon,Idaho andMontana) has been proposed by manywhite supremacists as a location for the establishment of a white ethnostate. ThisNorthwest Territorial Imperative was promoted byRichard Girnt Butler,Robert Miles,Robert Jay Mathews,David Lane, andHarold Covington, alongside the white supremacist terrorist organizationThe Order, the Neo-NaziChristian Identity organizationAryan Nations, the white power skinhead groupVolksfront, and the Northwest Front, among others. The Northwest Territorial Imperative also has loose overlap with theCascadia independence movement, which also seeks to create an independent republic between the Northwest and parts ofNorthern California in the United States andBritish Columbia inCanada, though many Cascadian groups specifically reject white nationalist ideologies.[3][4][5] Some in the far-right use the termAmerican Redoubt to describe a similar migration to the Northwestern United States.[6]

Other areas have been looked into as sites for a potential white ethnostate by certain groups. Most notably, the South has been proposed as a white ethnostate by the self-proclaimed "Southern Nationalist"League of the South (LS) due to the region's history ofsecessionism and itsde facto independence as theConfederate States of America (1861–1865). TheRepublic of Florida Militia also has fought for the creation of a white ethnostate in Florida.[citation needed]

Another white ethnostate has been proposed byBilly Roper's Shield Wall Network (SWN), aneo-Nazi organization based inMountain View, Arkansas. It seeks to establish a white ethnostate in theOzark region and is affiliated with other separatist groups such as theKu Klux Klan (KKK); theKnights Party, located nearHarrison, Arkansas; the League of the South (LS); and theNational Socialist Movement (NSM), a member of the now-defunctNationalist Front.[7] Conversely, the Ozarks have been a "hotbed" for adherents of theChristian Identity movement, including theChurch of Israel and various members of theChristian Patriot movement who have set up paramilitary training camps to prepare for a comingArmageddon.[7][8]
