White Airways S.A. (also known asWhite) is aPortuguesecharter airline and ACMI airline headquartered inPorto Salvo,Oeiras.[1] It mainly operates charter flights fromLisbon Humberto Delgado Airport on behalf of tour operators as well as on lease on behalf of other airlines.
The airline was founded in 2000, originally asYes - Linhas Aéreas Charter under a joint venture withTAP Air Portugal (75%) andAbreu Group (25%). It commenced operations in June 2000 with a leasedLockheed L-1011-500.
In late 2006, the airline was acquired by theOmni Aviation and renamedWhite Airways.[2] It focused on carrying outACMI operations on behalf of other airlines.
In May 2016, White Airways phased out their lastAirbus A310-300 as one of the last European operators of the type.[3]
In October 2022,TAP Air Portugal announced it would end its wetlease contract with White Airways, citing insufficient dispatch reliability.[4] This was later disputed by White Airways, as the maintenance was performed by Portugália, a subsidiary of TAP itself.[5]
