West Marin is the largest region ofMarin County, California, which is also rural.
West Marin comprises the westernmost towns ofPoint Reyes Station,Olema,Stinson Beach,Bolinas,Tomales,Dillon Beach, andInverness.[1] West Marin is generally considered to be northwest ofMuir Beach on thePacific Ocean side ofMount Tamalpais, however it also includesNicasio andWoodacre and going westward. When coming fromFairfax, Woodacre, which is in theSan Geronimo Valley, is considered one of the local "gateways" to West Marin by many locals, cyclists and tourists alike.[citation needed]
The San Geronimo Valley also includes the towns ofSan Geronimo,Forest Knolls andLagunitas. Local gemSamuel P Taylor Park is just west of Lagunitas.
ThePoint Reyes Light is a weeklynewspaper covering West Marin.

Unlike the rest of the county, which is served by Golden Gate Transit, West Marin is served only byMarin Transit, which connects to Golden Gate Transit lines atMarin City and in theSan Geronimo Valley, among other locations.
