TheWest African Football Union (French:Union des Fédérations Ouest-Africaines de Football;Portuguese:União das Federações Oeste Africanas), officially abbreviated asWAFU-UFOA andWAFU, is asports governing body representing thefootball associations inWest Africa that was founded in 1975 and is asubregional body of theConfederation of African Football (CAF).

It mainly organizes qualifying tournaments/championships for theCAF Women's Champions League and CAF's national team competitions except theAfrica Cup of Nations, but also organizes its own competitions, like the currently-inactiveWAFU Nations Cup.

WAFU consists of all football associations of West Africa, but got split into two zones by CAF, who cited "organisational issues facing WAFU."[3]

Mauritania is the only WAFU member to also be a member of theUnion of Arab Football Associations (UAFA).
