Waymond Bryant (born July 28, 1952) is an American former professionalfootball player who was alinebacker for theChicago Bears of theNational Football League (NFL).
Bryant was born inDallas,Texas and attendedFranklin D. Roosevelt High School in Dallas.[1] He playedcollege football atTennessee State University.[2] He was selected by theAssociated Press as a first-team linebacker on the1972 Little All-America college football team.[3]
Bryant was selected in the first round of the1974 NFL draft by theChicago Bears.[4] He played four seasons in theNational Football League.[5]Near the end of an October 10, 1977 game versus theLos Angeles Rams, Bryant hit quarterbackJoe Namath. Namath did not return to the game and never played professional football again.[6]
