Wathone (Burmese:ဝသုန်, lit. "Earth" fromPalivasundra), bornKhin Hla, was a prominent Burmese painter, best known for his watercolor andbatik paintings.[1] He was the subject of a documentary calledA Sketch of Wathone, directed byKyi Phyu Shin, which won the best shorts award at theNational Geographic Society's 2008 All Roads Film Festival.[1] He died at his home in Thingangyun Township, Yangon, in 2008.[2]
