Wang Qi (born 10 February 2001) is a Chinese track and field athlete who competes in thehammer throw. He won the gold medal at the2022 Asian Games, inHangzhou.[1]

Career

Wang took up the hammer throw in 2013 inYangzhou.[2] He started atNanjing Normal University in 2019.[3] In June 2023, he set a new personal best throw of 75.33m inKladno.[4]

In July 2023, he won gold at the2023 Asian Athletics Championships inBangkok with a throw of 72.13m.[5] In August 2023, he won gold in the hammer throw at the2023 University Games inChengdu with a throw of 73.63 metres.[6][7]

Wang won the gold medal at the2022 Asian Games, held inHangzhou on 30 September 2023. He triumphed with a throw of 72.97 meters.[8] It was China's first gold in hammer throw since the1994 Asian Games.[citation needed] He competed in the hammer throw at the2024 Paris Olympics.[9]

In May 2025, he won the gold medal in the hammer throw at the2025 Asian Athletics Championships.[10] In September 2025, he competed in the hammer throw at the2025 World Championships inTokyo, Japan.[11]
