John Wade Brorby (born May 23, 1934) is an inactiveSenior United States circuit judge of theUnited States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit.
Born inOmaha,Nebraska, Brorby received aBachelor of Science degree from theUniversity of Wyoming in 1956 and aJuris Doctor from theUniversity of Wyoming College of Law in 1958. While at the University of Wyoming, he was in the Air ForceReserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC). After graduation from law school, he was in theUnited States Air Force from 1958 to 1961, where he served in theJudge Advocate General's Corps as a legal officer. He became a captain. He was in private practice inGillette,Wyoming from 1961 to 1988, serving as a county and prosecuting attorney ofCampbell County, Wyoming from 1963 to 1970.[2]
On August 7, 1987, Brorby was nominated by PresidentRonald Reagan to a seat on theUnited States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit vacated by JudgeJames E. Barrett. Brorby was confirmed by theUnited States Senate on February 16, 1988, and received his commission on February 17, 1988. He assumedsenior status on May 25, 2001.[2]
